Comments are now enabled by default
Tuesday, October 01, 2019
Earlier this year, we announced our commenting feature, where community members can comment on event pages. Because we saw this feature as having the potential for abuse, we left it off by default for existing communities. Half a year later, and we haven't had any issues with abuse, so we're ready to launch the feature to everyone.
If your community has never explicitly disabled the commenting feature, and your community isn't hiding its members, commenting is now enabled. If you tried it out in the past, and then disabled it, it will remain disabled. Because commenting requires the commenters themselves to be public, the feature isn't available to communities that hide their members. You can review these settings by navigating to your communities "Settings" and then selecting "Options".
Previously, we supported integration with a third party commenting system, disqus. While we deprecated support for disqus comments when launching our own commenting feature, we've now completely removed the integration.
As always, please get in touch with us if you have any questions or concerns.
